We are so excited to feature two phenomenal destination wedding stories exquisitely captured by the fabulous wedding photographer team of Miles Witt Boyer Photography that are certain to provide the much needed inspiration for your own 2011 wedding event!
Lindsey Chomiuk + Will Bull ~ A Southern Wedding in Tulsa, OK
Originally from Michigan, Lindsey had no idea what she was getting into when she committed to a Southern wedding! Quickly after becoming engaged, Lindsey’s family hired a group of wedding planners, Zinke Design, and they helped teach everyone about everything Oklahoma, while making sure that this was a day that the bride and groom would never forget! The black and white wedding encompassed both Lindsey and William’s personalities while also teaching all of our out-of-town guests what it meant to be from the South. Guests arrived and were treated to “Welcome to Oklahoma” baskets containing Oklahoma shaped and frosted sugar cookies, a bottle of Dancing Bull wine (appropriate because Lindsey is a tap dancer and William’s last name is Bull), an Oklahoma road map, a list of fun Tulsa excursions, a wedding itinerary, and other snacks and treats. The ceremony took place at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Tulsa with the reception at the Historic Mayo Hotel a few blocks away. The Tulsa trolley arrived to help shuttle guests from the church to the reception while the bride and groom hoped into a vintage, white Bentley. The crystal ballroom at the Mayo was decorated with crystal candelabras, black and white table linens, and purple flowers. The guests enjoyed a sit down dinner, two different cakes, and a candy table with all different sorts of candies in the wedding colors. Guests danced the night away and at 11 o’clock the party really started! Guests were treated to glowstick necklaces and eyeglasses, appropriate because Lindsey is currently in Optometry school.
A street corner hot-dog cart was also wheeled in to treat guests to a late-night snack. The bride and groom stayed with guests until 2am when they finally decided they better try to get some sleep before their 6am flight in the morning! As guests returned to their hotel rooms, they were surprised with one last treat of miniature muffins and a thank you from the bride and groom! It was a night Lindsey and William will never forget!
Shasta Walker + Jeremy Neisler ~ A Destination Wedding in Cozumel, MX
For Shasta and Jeremy planning a large wedding in their hometown area of Northwest Arkansas was not what they envisioned for their big day. What they had envisioned was on a much smaller scale – a destination wedding in Cozumel, Mexico. Simple – yes. Much less planning and preparation – definitely! This wedding ended up being a week long party.
The group of 17 spent a week at the Sabor Resort snorkeling, kayaking, laughing over dinner each night, and just having fun each and every day together. With the help of their destination wedding planner, Erik de Abreu, a beautiful ceremony that included the gorgeous background of the Caribbean Ocean took place just before sunset on November 24, 2010.The couple had given Erik the go ahead to use his artistic license to put everything together which gave Shasta and Jeremy the chance to relax and enjoy the moment. After the ceremony, Erik took the group to the reception that featured the night sky, glowing strings of lanterns, a delicious dinner, and an evening filled with break dancing and laughing to a great DJ Erik had brought in for the night. For Shasta and Jeremy this wedding was not just a day to remember – it was a WEEK to remember!
